Birthday Recap

I promised pictures from the Bug's 2nd birthday party. We had a great time and the Princess got lots and lots of wonderful stuff...a Princess kitchen, a my size ballerina Barbie, several barbies and Mom's favorite, clothes galore! Nana and Paw Paw gave her a bunch of cute things that are going to get her through the spring. She also got the cutest tankini...I just can't wait to take her swimming.

Nana and I worked late into the evening Saturday night making a Cinderella cake. That's what she wanted and I really wanted to make it special just for her instead of buying one. It turned out beautiful!!! I wasent sure how edible it would be so we backed it up with cupcakes! (It ended up tasting pretty good)!

Im thinking...

That my house really needs a good cleaning, I need to go to the gym tonight since I skipped yesterday, the grocery store would be really good right about now for my Ethiopian pantry, the housewives from Wisteria Lane are suffocating in my DVR because I've missed the last 2 new episodes and where in the heck am I going to put all of the great stuff Laney Grace acquired yesterday at her birthday party.....deep breath...was Miley's dress really as bad as the Fashion police say, I thought calling her a human Christmas tree was a little harsh, Jack William has got to learn to go to the dern potty, he's 3, I hope I'm swimsuit ready for the spring and summer, Jack and Laney Grace are going to want to swim outside around others I'm sure, after reading chell's blog I doubt I'll be lip waxing...speaking of waxing, I need to use my gift card I got for Christmas, It's got a free wax...

It's definitely Monday!

To Pageant or Not to Pageant

For years I have helped pageant directors organize their beauty pageants in hotel ballrooms and formed my own opinions very quickly about what these "beauty" pageants were all about. I've watched toothless mothers spend hundreds of dollars on overnight accommodations, spray tans,(yes, they spray tan there toddlers) clothes, photos, of which are so digitally enhanced that by the time they are done doctoring the photos you cant even tell if the child is, 1. even the same child or if 2.they are actually wax figures of themselves.

I said many times, "how could these Mothers do this to their children...fake hair, fake teeth, fake, fake, fake... that's not teaching these children true beauty, I will never do that to my little girl if I ever have one".

And then, you have my mother's theory, that it could cause psychological problems...If I don't win, I'm ugly, fat, worthless etc...That all you are worth as a person are the physical aspects.

The flip side is that it could create confidence and self esteem.

Well now I have one, Laney Grace 2, and I have been trying to decide if I want to enter her into a beauty pageant. It looks like so much fun. I just don't know where to start. It's extremely expensive and time consuming from what I understand but some of the pageants offer cash prizes or savings bonds.

I have been doing some preliminary research and learned that not all pageants are the "glitzy" kind. I don't know, morally and ethically is this right? Am I a bad mom if I want my beautiful baby girl to be a beauty queen?

The picture above is from the movie Little Miss Sunshine, I've never seen it but I think I may rent it. S0 many people have told me I need to see it.

iCooked...

Man, I was so proud of myself Friday night. I made the best pasta and the even better part is that I just made it up. It wasent a frozen from a bag, heat it up kind of thing. It was just random ingredients that I had and cooked together. Jack and Laney Grace loved it. Justin did too! Do you think maybe this is a sign that I really can cook and make excuses not to?

Listed below are a few things that I make, limited to:

Spaghetti
Chili
Meat(as long as it's on the stove or in the oven) ;)
Meatloaf
and lastly, hotdogs
oh and tuna salad.

No, but really in all seriousness,I give myself a hard time. I really can cook, I made Greenbean Casserole for Thanksgiving. I just dont. However, I have been, because of the getting healthy, diet kick Im on this week! NO MORE FAST FOOD. Too expensive and bad for you.

I did have Taco Bell last week but I swear I ordered from the new Fresco menu...less than 9 grams of fat.

News Flash: After enjoying the wonderful pasta stir-fry, I was washing dishes and my decrotive bowl did not make it. :( The first time I used the dern thing...
